The tradition of excellence at St. Clair and Massey Orthodontics started over 30 years ago, in 1980, when Dr. John St. Clair began his practice of orthodontics. With a passion for enhancing not only a person’s beauty but also their self-worth and confidence, Dr. John soon became known as a humanitarian who excelled in both the technical and personal side of the profession. He founded the practice on the bedrock philosophy to do “EXCELLENCE in all things, and all things for His glory.” St. Clair Orthodontics quickly became known as the place to go to receive exceptional service and unparalleled quality while having a great time in the process.
As God’s plan would have it, Dr. John’s pioneering vision was to be passed on to the next generation of the St. Clair family. After spending time as a patient in the practice, Dr. John’s nephew, James, became inspired by the tradition of excellence he saw his uncle building. As far back as elementary school, Dr. James St. Clair knew what his lifelong passion would be. After working throughout high school and college for St. Clair Orthodontics, Dr. James fulfilled his dream to join his uncle’s practice in 1999 after completing his residency in orthodontics.
Wanting to continue the tradition of a patient-centered practice, Dr. James brought with him the desire to provide a more comfortable and faster solution to achieve the same exceptional result that Dr. John had become known for. With this in mind, Dr. John and Dr. James began spending countless hours of continuing education to learn about a revolutionary way to practice orthodontics. Their investment in the idea that developing technology in the field of orthodontics could provide a better patient experience paid off when they discovered a revolutionary new way to practice orthodontics: The Damon® System.
As they found the patient experience to be more comfortable with the exponentially lighter forces provided by the advanced technology of the Damon System, our doctors also found that superior results were being achieved in much faster treatment times. Our patients at St. Clair Orthodontics began to testify to this unique experience and motivated Dr. John and Dr. James to increase their commitment to receive advanced training from the innovator behind the system, Dr. Dwight Damon himself. As they were two of the first to fully adopt the Damon System, our doctors became recognized for their knowledge in the field of light-force orthodontics and were asked to teach this new system at the prestigious University of Texas Dental School in 2006. After treating thousands of patients and training more than 50 practicing orthodontists, our doctors have become nationally recognized as experts in this innovative approach to orthodontic care.
With the amazing results being accomplished in record time, patients routinely seek treatment from the team at St. Clair Orthodontics from as far as 150 to 200 miles away. To help meet the growing demand from our two practices, Dr. John and Dr. James began praying for a like-minded doctor to possibly join the practice.
Dr. John and Dr. James anticipated their future associate to come from one of their residents while teaching at the University of Texas Dental Branch in Houston, but God had something different in mind. In 2008, Dr. John and Dr. James met Dr. C.C. Massey, a resident at Baylor Dental School in Dallas at the time. Their relationship with Dr. Massey grew as they invested in taking him to continuing education meetings for the Damon System and having him in the practice on numerous occasions over the next two years. In 2010, St. Clair Orthodontics invited Dr. Massey to join the practice as an associate. The doctors found that having a new associate in the practice began to refine and reinvigorate the passion within the practice, and within two years, Dr. Massey was asked to join the practice as a full partner. In 2012, the practice of St. Clair Orthodontics changed their name to St. Clair and Massey Orthodontics to welcome and honor their new partner.
As the team at St. Clair and Massey Orthodontics look to the future of a practice established over 30 years ago, we continue to strive for the excellent service, innovative cutting-edge treatment solutions, and superior results our patients have come to expect.
Continuing the tradition of being known as innovators in the field, our doctors welcomed the addition of Cone-Beam Computed Tomography to the practice in 2010. The X-rays provided by our new imaging system are the dental equivalent of a medical CT scan and ensure our patients are provided with the best diagnostic records available to date. While this technology is quickly becoming the standard of care in dentistry, we are still the only orthodontic practice within a 200 mile radius to have such cutting-edge technology within our practice.
Invisalign® clear aligner therapy has been available to patients in our practice for over ten years. As the fourth generation of the product was released in 2011, the ability to treat more difficult cases that were once impossible to treat with clear aligner therapy finally became a reality. We are excited to now offer Invisalign to a much larger percentage of our prospective patients. Our doctors have received extensive training in the past two years to learn all they can about this newest generation of the Invisalign product and our honored to have been recognized as a Premier Preferred Provider of Invisalign.
We are proud to serve our patients with the greatest advances the field of orthodontics has to offer. With the help of Damon braces, 3D dental imaging, and the Invisalign system of clear aligner therapy, our team at St. Clair and Massey Orthodontics offer our patients the most innovative solutions available within the same warm, welcoming, and FUN environment we have been known for over the past 30 years. You can trust our orthodontists to help you make an informed decision as to which type of braces is best for you and we look forward to providing excellence in the field of orthodontics for the next 30 years!
